Martin Van Beynen supports call for the next Inquirer not to make same mistakes as Justice Binnie did

Martin Van Beynen, of the Christchurch Press who attended the fuill retrial in 2009 and wrote an epic opinion piece on the trial and his verdict that David Bain has guilty, has echoed calls from counterspin and Justice for Robin Bain members that the new judge or inquirer not make the same mistakes as Justice Binnie.

Van Beynen thinks that the result of this inquiry will be binding on the government, but there is no confirmation of this.  He says: It's probably fair enough that the result of the fresh look should be binding on the Government. There is a precedent for this in commercial litigation and the Government cannot keep ordering inquiries until it gets the result it wants."

Van Beynen's piece can be found here.
