Martin Van Beynen, who was in Perth for the event gives his account of the speech given by David Bain. Contrary to Joe Karam's portrayal, Van Beynen contends that the original investigation 1994 was a "textbook investigation" which parallels our assessment and that of the Police Complaints Authority. About the speech itself, Van Beynen commented on how Bain gave a glowing account of his father, yet he is the person that David and his Defence team accuse of committing the murders. This observation led Van Beynen to ask David a question of that nature in the press conference that followed which led to Joe Karam repeatedly interrupting and answering questions for David.
I would like to read exactly what David Bain said when he mentioned that cup of tea he said he was going to make for his mother.
