He covered the first trial for the Guardian and the resulting book is considered a masterly and thorough “psychological” anaylsis where all the evidentail facts are given  detailed considereation .His conclusions went against the grain somewhat but countered his critics by stating “...In the David Bain case there has in my view been no victimisation and no miscarriage – the police got it right, the judge got it right, the jury got it right.”
